Just Hours from Atlanta

We were looking for a getaway and one that was close to Atlanta. We selected Cloudland Canyon State Park. Surprisingly at the end of October, the park was hardly being used. We rented two cabins that had two bedrooms and one bath. During the day we hiked and at night we built a fire and sat around and talked. This is why it's called Cloudland Canyon You need to visit the North Georgia Hang Glide launch pad when you are in the area. Are you looking for the quiet sounds of waterfalls in the distance. This is the park to visit while in Georgia. Hiking trails are located all over the park. Just grab a map or walk along the trails. When you have explored everything and you need refueling we all highly recommend The Mountain Top Café The food is world class and so good. Don't let the small building fool you, they are big on flavor.  Mountain Top Cafe Everything comes to an end.

Martinsville Speedway NASCAR Weekend

Martinsville Speedway Weekend I'll start out by confessing, I am not a big NASCAR fan. Growing up an hour outside of Daytona Florida, I was more into IMSA than NASCAR or Porsche's than Fords. A buddy of mine who is a HUGE NASCAR fan asked if I wanted to go in his rented Allegro motorhome so I jumped at the chance to see a race close up, and I mean really close up. We parked right at the fence and looked down on the track which was twenty feet from our bumper. The motorhome needed nothing more to keep us comfortable. If you are able, you should rent the space and motorhome and park it at the track. The sights and sounds of the cars racing around the track is hard to beat when you are sitting on top of the track looking down. We watched the crews setup and take down each night.
