Greek Isle of Amorgos

Slightly off the beaten track, Amorgos lies about 20 miles southeast of Naxos and is accessible only by ferry. It does have two ports, though: Aegiali on the northwest coast and Katapola further south. Amorgos is a great destination if you’re looking for a more authentic and traditional Greek experience. It provides a great contrast to more popular nearby islands such as Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and Santorini. The Big Blue was filmed here and the movie was about this ship that ran aground during a big storm   Monastery that was built into the side of a cliff.  Allison and Libby walked down for a swim on Anne Beach. Sun is setting while we are walking around a fort.  Ancient windmills of Chora. Great place to watch the sun set. We had dinner and drinks in the small city. No cars only foot traffic in the city. Easy to get lost.  Rebbeca having a fantastic coffee on a side street. Sai...

Greek Isle of Delos

Delos is a Greek island and archaeological site in the Aegean Sea's Cyclades archipelago, near Mykonos. The mythological birthplace of Apollo, it was a major religious center and port during the 1st millennium B.C. The island's ruins encompass temples, markets, an amphitheater, houses with mosaics and the iconic Terrace of the Lions statues. The Archaeological Museum displays statues excavated from the site. Pulling up to park our boat. You need sand and a shelf to deploy the anchor. Delos from our boat.  All the statues have no arms and heads. Large Mosaic tile floors that are normally over cisterns for water storage. Some of the cisterns have collapsed from erosion. So many artifacts on the island. They're just stacked up. You can go over and move them, touch them, carry them off.  If you zoom in you can see some of the city that housed 30,000 people.  This is the Temple of Isis (and Tam...

Blowing My Mind

Items that I have collected,  in no particular order,  that  BLOW MY MIND. I have been collecting and writing down information that blows my mind. Here is a list, in no particular order, of information that I have picked up shortly after I was born in 1958. It is crazy how much information that has changed or is changing as I grow older. The Universe In no particular order: The universe was created 13.8 billion years ago. Earth is just 1 of 3.2 trillion planets in our galaxy. The Sun is just 1 of 200 billion stars in the Milky Way. The Milky Way is just 1 of the 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. It takes light 100,000 years to cross an average size galaxy.  Big Bang - Only two elements were formed one million of a millionth of a millionth of a second after the big bang. Because of heat after the big bang these two elements were created. 1. 75% hydrogen  2. 25% helium 400 million years after the big bang, the stars are formed under extreme heat....
